Snake Expert Dies After Viper Bite During Presentation On Overcoming A Fear Of Snakes

A German snake expert died after being
bitten multiple times by a viper during a
presentation aimed at helping people ease
their fears of the scaly reptiles.
Dieter Zorn, a 53-year-old herpetologist,died
Tuesday evening of a heart attack minutes
after he was bitten by an Aspic viper,
according to Germany’s English-language
newspaper The Local. Zorn was in southern
France performing his “Reptile Show,” which
teaches people how to overcome their fears
of snakes, when he was bitten several times.
His co-host, Uschi Kallus, told The Local that
Zorn died from an “extremely rare allergic
reaction” to the bite, even though
emergency personnel administered a blood
thinner. She said he wouldn’t have wanted
the snake to be blamed for his death and
added that the incident was “exceptionally
uncommon.”
Zorn’s show encourages attendees to handle
the reptiles so as to get past “unfounded”
fears. France’s Midi Libre newspaper reported
“the audience, filled with curious people,
almost saw him die” on stage, according to a
Huffington Post translation.
Vipers are poisonous snakes, Animal Planet
notes. Snake venom is meant to kill prey,
with the poison working to damage an
animal’s nerves, heart, breathing, blood
vessels and body tissues. The Aspic viper is a
snake native to France, Switzerland, Spain
and Italy. It can grow up to 20 inches in
length and live in a variety of habitats.

B-E-T-R-A-Y-A-L: House-help, lover, fake soldiers arrested for robbing master of $100,000

Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad,
SARS, Ikeja, Lagos have arrested a female
house help who allegedly connived with her
boyfriend and two fake soldiers to rob her
master of over 100,000 Dollars.
The 23 year-old house help, Adaeze Ijeoma,
allegedly sneaked into her master’s bedroom
located in Maryland, Lagos, last month, after
he traveled out of the country. Unsure of
where to keep the foreign currency, she
reportedly took it to her boyfriend, one
Onyebuchi Uche, only for him to flee with the
money, leaving Adaeze in doubt.
On his part, Onyebuchi , who has been jobless
for years, rushed to Alade market, Ikeja
where he changed some of the dollars to
naira and thereafter, deposited the sum of N8
million in two banks. He thereafter, told
operatives at SARS that he also bought a car;
‘End of Discussion’ and a plot of land in an
undisclosed area where he had started
molding blocks for building.
Determined to get her own share of the loot
from him, betrayed Adaeze was said to have
confided with one of her relatives identified
simply as Nnamdi to help retrieve the money
from her estranged lover.
Nnamdi and two other persons clad in Military
camouflage reportedly stormed Maryland last
week where on spotting Onyebuchi, bundled
him inside his new vehicle and took him to a
hotel in Mende area of Lagos, where they
reportedly tortured him and forced him to
disclose where he kept the money. They
reportedly managed to get the sum of N6.5
million from two separate banks where
Onyebuchi kept the money, including the
new car he bought.
However, just when Adaeze was
contemplating on what to do with her own
share of the recovered loot, an eight man
robbery gang reportedly stormed her
master’s home, where an unspecified
amount including his phones and other
valuables were carted away.
The robbery case was reported at SARS after
which Adaeze and two other persons were
arrested. Although she denied having a hand
in the recent robbery, she however, disclosed
her role in the theft of 100,000 Dollars.
In this interview with Crime Guard, she said: “
I am from Akri village in Ogbaru Local
Government area of Anambra State. I left the
village in 2010, after my secondary school
education in search of greener pastures in
Lagos, where I started working as a house-
help for Chief Uche and was paid the sum of
N10,000 monthly. I lived in the same
apartment with chief and to be honest to
him, he has treated me as a member of the
family.
“I met my boyfriend Onyebuchi after being
lonely for a while in 2011. I was tempted to
steal my boss’s money and gave it to my
boyfriend to keep so that we can start our
own life. I gave him because he promised he
would marry me. I stole the money so that we
can, at least, get a lease of life when married.
I believed he would use it wisely because he
has always had plans for the future.
“But I began suspecting foul play after he
stopped picking my calls . When I went to
where he lives in Mende, I was told he usually
came home late. Later, those who know us
told me he started driving a car. That was
when I contacted my uncle, Nnamdi to help
retrieve the money from him. On the day, he
was to go with his two soldier friends, I waited
at Mende for Onyebuchi and when I sighted
him, I pointed him to them and left for home
immediately. After he was tortured, he called
me on the phone that he was sick and when I
went to see him, he said some robbers stole
the money from him and even battered him
to stupor.
“I swear, I do not know anything about the
other robbery operation in the house. The
robbers came armed and forced me to take
them round the house. They only got some
money in the guest room and took my
master’s Black berry phone, his gold wrist
watch and other things. They also took my
phone but left it at the backyard. I did what I
did out of love for my boyfriend, not knowing
he would betray me. Now he has fled, leaving
me to bear the consequences alone, without
having a taste of the money, “ she stated in
tears.
On his part, Nnamdi claimed he was once a
military personnel but resigned on his return
from a foreign mission where he got the sum
of N2 million. Surprisingly, Nnamdi was
discovered to be an in-law to Chief Uche. “I
am from Akaokwa village, in Ideato North
Local Government area, Imo State and the
complainant is married to my father’s sister.
I used to sleep in their house any time I
came to Lagos to sell palm oil and at times, I
spent one month.
“When Adaeze told me about the money, I
threatened I was going to tell her boss. But
on second thought, I thought if I got the
money, I could use it to enrich myself. I then
contacted Chima, my friend who is now at
large. It was Chima who contacted a soldier
who initially gave his name as Corporal
Humphrey. It was later we discovered he was
a dismissed soldier. We lodged at Tropicana
Hotel in Mende Maryland ,where we took
Onyebuchi to. I was in full Army uniform
while Ajaghe my other friend, was wearing a
camouflage cap, pretending to be soldiers.
“We tied him to a ceiling fan and beat him in
order to force him to tell us where he kept the
money. We seized his car. And ordered him to
transfer the N2.4 million he said was in First
Bank and N5.5 million in Fidelity bank to my
account for easy withdrawal. We used ATM
card to withdraw the money for one week
from one of the banks while we withdrew the
rest from separate branches of the other
bank. At the end, I gave Onyebuchi’s car to
Chima to keep and N500,000 to Ajaghe ,
while I kept the rest, with the hope of giving
some to Adaeze and keeping the rest”, he
said, adding that he knew nothing about the
robbery operation at Chief Uche’s apartment.
The Commander, SARS, Mr Abba Kyari, said
the suspects would be charged to court while
efforts were still on to arrested other fleeing
members of the gang.

Daughter accuses Dad, 57, of having sex with her

Emotion ran high, Monday, at the
Bar Beach Police Division, following revelation
by a Primary 5 pupil of how her 57-year-old
father had been having carnal knowledge of
her in the last three months.
The primary school pupil during interrogation
said her mother brought her to her father
after years of separation, adding that since
the sacrilegious act began, her father had
been giving her N200 as pocket money to
school.
Unsure of who to confide in, she said she told
her mother during one of her visits only for
the father to dismiss the claim, stating that
he could not bring himself that low as to
having carnal knowledge of his biological
daughter.
But the bubble burst after she summoned
courage to tell her head teacher, who invited
the police.
According to the pupil, “ when I was reunited
with my father, I was happy because I was
living with an aunt in the village since my
parents separated. He usually told me that I
would take the place of my mother in his life
since my mother had divorced him. I did not
know what he meant until he started having
carnal knowledge of me at night.
“At a point, I got tired and insulted him.
Then, he started beating me and changed his
loving nature. He would beat me and strip me
naked and have his way whenever he
wanted.
When I attempted to scream, he would hit
me harder and cover my mouth. He later
apologized, telling me he would buy me a car.
All I want at the moment is for my father to
be punished for what he did to me.”
But her 57-year-old father, Nwafor Iko,
described her daughter’s claim as mere
allegation. Ikoro said he only beat his
daughter after he discovered she was in an
amorous relationship with an unnamed man.
The matter, according to Police sources, was
immediately charged to the Igbosere
Magistrate Court, from where Ikoro was
remanded in prison custody until his
application bail would be considered. WHAT IS THE WORLD TURNING TO?

Man Steals Goat, Stabs Father To Death For Not Defending Him –

CALABAR — A 21-year-old man, Samuel Eyo
Nsa, has stabbed his 78-year-old father, Chief
Eyo Nsa, to death at Eseko village, Creek Town
in Odukpani Local Government Area of the
state.
His reason: the late father allegedly refused to
defend him after he was caught stealing a
neighbour’s goat.
The incident happened on Children’s Day when
Samuel decided to celebrate the day with a
goat stolen from a neighbour, Otobong
Matthew, with which he prepared pepper soup
to entertain his friends.
“When Otobong discovered that evening that
one of his goats was missing, he searched
everywhere for it and someone told him that
he saw Samuel with a goat earlier in the day
and had slaughtered it to prepare pepper soup
for his friends to celebrate the Children’s Day,”
Alex Edet, a Creek Town youth told Vanguard.
The revelation, our source said, made Otobong
to report the matter to Samuel’s father that
his goats were always missing and that
someone had told him that Samuel stole his
goat to celebrate the Children’s Day. He
demanded payment for his goat.
“Chief Nsa was tired of appearing in the village
square to defend his son and to pay fines for
things he kept stealing and, therefore, told the
owner of the goat to report the matter to the
police,” our source said.
According to Edet, after Otobong left the old
man’s premises and was on his way to the
police station, Samuel who was hiding behind
the window listening to the discussion,
suddenly appeared, accusing his parents of not
defending him and threatened to deal with
them.
Afraid that the boy would carry out his threat,
his mother escaped, while Samuel allegedly
gave her a hot chase brandishing a machete
but when he got to a point where he met some
youths decided to return to the house to
attack his aged father who was said to be old
and almost blind.
“He inflicted several machete cuts on the old
man who died on the spot and swore not to
spare his mother,” Vanguard was told.
Samuel later attempted to escape as he fled
into the bush but was apprehended by some
youths in the area.
“We gave him a hot chase and got hold of him
in the CreekTown forest and handed him over
to the police at the Odukpani Police division,”
said one of the youths.
He was after his arrest transferred to the State
Police Headquarters in Calabar.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state
Police Command, Mr. John Umoh, said the
suspect would be charged to court.
